Casino Red Custom Dice in Yahtzee with Buddies

How to Get the Casino Red Custom Dice in Yahtzee with Buddies

In order to get the Casino Red Custom Dice, all the Trick Play challenges must be completed.  In other words, complete each trick five times.  There are nine things to do:

Epic Finish - Play a Yahtzee on your last turn.
Even Steven - Tie a Game in person versus person.
Three hand Bandit - Score three Yahtzees in one game.
Silver Platter - Score a Large Straight with only one roll.
Easy Does It - Score a Small Straight with only one roll.
Four Hand Bandit - Score four Yahtzees in One Game.
Zero the Hero - Win a game scoring zero (0) on your last turn.
Precision Fail - Score only five points in a game.
Perfect Start - Get a Yahtzee on your first turn.

The difficulty in order in my opinion: Even Steven, Four Hand Bandit, Three Hand Bandit, Perfect Start, Epic Finish, Precision Fail, Silver Platter, Easy Does It, Zero the Hero.

The only one that most people have difficulty on is precision fail. A game must be completed, meaning all 13 turns must be finished. No forfeits count.  Score a five of a kind of all 1's and score it in the chance. After that, score zero in all the other twelve boxes. Your total will be 5 and you'll lose the game.  "Even steven" is rare, but if you see that you might tie, then ask your opponent if they will help out.  Usually they do because it helps them accomplish the same achievement that you are going through.

If you can accomplish the above items, then you will automatically earn the purple custom dice.  The purple dice state that the casino red and blue dice must be claimed.  As you might recall, the blue dice are earned by beating five opponents.

Good Luck!

Looking for Yahtzee with Buddies Players?

Looking for Yahtzee Players!

Some people have requested information on how to find people to play.  If you leave your username, highest/lowest level opponent you will play, if you can play a whole game quickly, or multiple games then we can create a list to help you complete your accomplishments or just find someone just for fun on yahtzee with buddies.

Leave the information for you match up in the comment section and I'll add it to the list below. When you have enough matches, I'll take it off.

Good luck and hope you find someone to play Yahtzee with Buddies or Dice with Buddies.

How to Earn the Nutcracker Dice in Yahtzee with Buddies

In order to unlock the Nutcracker Dice in Yahtzee with Buddies, you need to beat the Sugar One Fairy.  Yes, the ever dangerous - Sugar One Fairy.  But once you complete the nutcracker tower you can activate the custom dice!

There are nine different dice masters in this tower to defeat.

Here are the nine opponents that you will face in the tower:

BRONZE LEVEL
Clara: Get a whopping 50 XP and 1 snowflake for beating her. 165 Avg
Vivandice: 100 XP and 2 snowflakes for the win. 195 Avg
Nutcracker: 200 XP and 3 snowflakes for defeating nutcracker! 215 Avg

SILVER LEVEL
Toy Rolldier: 500 XP and 4 snowflakes for advancing. 230 Avg
Throwflake: 1,000 XP and 6 snowflakes for taking him down. 255 Avg
The Dice Mice Kind: 1,500 XP and 8 snowflakes for winning. 270 Avg

Three of a Chai: 3,000 XP and 20 snowflakes for beating Chai. 300 Avg
Sugar One Fairy: 5,000 XP and 40 snowflakes for winning. 321 Avg

You need to get two yahtzee's for the last two dice masters.

Each character can be played once per day for FREE in a twenty four hour period.  To avoid the waiting period, then it costs 15 bonus rolls to skip the wait.

If you have enough bonus rolls, the tower can be completed in one day. The dice are a little difficult to read the numbers and takes a little bit more care to eliminate playing the wrong numbers.

If you beat the Sugar One Fairy five times then you get the snowflake custom dice right now instead of waiting for the community event to finish.

Good luck in defeating the Sugar One Fairy!

How to Earn the Black Dice in Yahtzee with Buddies

Earning the Black Dice in Yahtzee with Buddies
by Beating all the Dice Masters

You've seen the black dice and wondered how you earn them; you must defeat all the dice masters in the dice master showdown.  Here is what the look like:

The dice master showdown can only be played once per day.  If you don't play or lose, you drop down on the ladder and take it from there.  You are able to use a "fresh start," if you are losing but it will cost you bonus rolls.

The tower consists of beating 25 different dice masters in yahtzee with buddies. They are:

BRONZE LEVEL
Onesie: 1) Beating him gets you 50 XP. Avg score: 165.
Suzy Straights: 2) Beating Suzy scores 100 XP. Avg score: 180.
Dora Fours: 3) Beating her gets brings 1 bonus roll and 250 XP. Avg score: 205.
Richie Six: 4) Richie gets you 1 bonus roll and 500 XP. Avg score: 225.
Chancella Rex: 5) Beating Chancella earns 2 bonus rolls and 1,000 XP. Avg score: 265.

You won't need to get a yahzee for these guys but do need to complete the level.  They usually play to their average.  Not always but most of the time.  That is the score you need to shoot for.

SILVER LEVEL
Overolls Lee: 1 bonus and 1250 XP for winning. Avg score 235.
Volley Four: Winning earns 1 bonus roll and 1,500 XP. Avg score: 250.
Phill House: Beating Phill gets 2 bonus rolls and 1,750 XP. Avg score: 270.
Pip Squeak: Beating Pip earns 4 bonus rolls and 2,000 XP. Avg score: 280.
Coach Chance: 5 bonus rolls and 2,500 XP for defeating Coach. Avg score: 290.

GOLD LEVEL
Stone Ace: Beating Ace gets you 2 bonus rolls and 3,000 XP. Avg score: 260.

Five Courses: Winning earns 9 bonus rolls and 6,000 XP. Avg score: 305.

EMERALD LEVEL
Jestica Zero: 3 bonus rolls and 8,000 XP earned for a win. Avg score: 280.
Mimi Threes: 5 bonus rolls and 9,000 XP earned for the defeat. Avg score: 290.
Lucky O' Leary: Winning earns 8 bonus rolls and 10,000 XP. Avg score: 300.
RTDT: Earn 8 bonus rolls and 12,500 XP for the win. Avg score: 310.
Lady Luck: Get 12 bonus rolls and 15,000 XP for winning. Avg score: 320.

AMETHYST LEVEL
Cpt. Two Beard: Get 6 bonus rolls and 20,000 XP for defeating. Avg score: 295.
Threeopatra: Earn 9 bonus rolls and 25,000 XP for winning. Avg score: 305.
Harelquad: Collect 10 bonus rolls and 30,000 XP for beating: Avg score: 315.
Lord Rollerby: 15 bonus rolls and 40,000 XP for winning. Avg score: 330.
Lady Rollerby: 20 bonus rolls and 50,000 XP for a win. Avg score 340.

You will definitely need two yahtzees at this level to win. Also, try to get as many four of kind in the upper section and don't be afraid to use the bonus rolls.  You've earned them from beating a previous dice master and you'll need them.

Remember that participating in the showdown also gets you yahtzee with buddies achievements. Look at the section labeled "Dice Master Showdown."  Thousands of XP can be earned from the showdown and advance your level.  Good luck!

2/28/2016: Update: The dice master showdown is ending March 7th, 2016.

Tournaments in Yahtzee with Buddies

There are several different types of tournaments in Yahtzee with Buddies. Each has their own benefits that may appeal to you based on how many bonus rolls and how many players you will be competing again:  Here are the main tournaments

Fastplay Bronze: The cost to play a fastplay tournament is two (2) bonus rolls. Only 15 players are competing in the tournament. You are one of them but will be shuffled around depending on how long it takes you to move. This is why you see the "average score" to change after each turn you take. If you win, you get 13 bonus rolls and depending on the season 5 snowflakes.

Fasplay Silver: The entry fee is eight (8) bonus rolls. The win will get you 60 bonus rolls and 20 snowflakes.

Fastplay Gold: The final fastplay costs 15 bonus rolls. Winning this level gets 120 bonus rolls and 40 snowflakes.

*Note that you get a free scratcher after each tournament so that you get a chance to get more bonus rolls.  The top three finishers get a winner's prize.  Winning at least one time in any of the fastplay gets you a Fastplay winner icon based on what tournament you won.

The next type of tournament is the Daily Tournament is free (everyone and their mama) to enter one time.  You can enter more than once but then it costs an additional 20 bonus rolls.  Special offers are tied (sometimes) to winning a daily tournament. A custom dice may be offered (at this time, it was the snowman custom dice).

The reward for winning is 100 - 200 bonus rolls and or XP.

There is the outright , winner's circle (top 10) and then the honorable mention (top 200).  The scores to get winners circle are very high (500+).  The winning score is usually 600+ and if something is offered as a prize other than bonus rolls (rare custom dice), then 700+.  Three or four yahtzees are required and many bonus rolls.

The grand daddy tournament is the premium tournament. This tournament offers as a prize between 1000 bonus to 1,800 bonus rolls and maybe a set of custom dice.  Price to enter: 30-100 bonus rolls. Beginners usually don't enter because they don't have enough bonus rolls to enter. There is usually a frenzy towards the end with high scores changing by the second.  All the motivated players playing their final scores hoping for that grand prize.

Each tournament lasts for 24 hours and ends about 8:45 p.m. pacific time.  The final move must be played within that time or whatever score you have will be your score for that tournament.  The results are final in about 10 minutes after it closes.  Once closed, an award waiting period is next.  About an hour before you can actually claim your prize if any.

How to Beat Kris KringROLL in Yahtzee with Buddies

How do you beat Kris KringRoll in Yahtzee with Buddies? As you might guess, KringRoll is the last character to beat in the Dice Pole Showdown. In order to even get to this last match you have to beat the following below.  The Dice Pole Showdown lasts about 30 days and you can enter once per day, or use some bonus rolls to get more chances to continue playing. You may have to use bonus rolls that you have stored up and maybe even a "fresh start" here and there.  If you beat Kris Kringroll, then you get a vanity frame, 5,000 in XP, 40 snowflakes and a new set of custome dice! After you beat him, you continue to try to beat him for a total of five different "notches" on your vanity frame.

You don't earn more dice though. Pay attention to the score that they average because they will lose with anything slightly above it. I played one where they had a single box left but they had already achieved their average and they rolled a zero (0) on their last roll.

Chancer: Average score: 160, 50 XP earned and 1 snowflakes
Sixen: Average score: 180, 100 XP earned and 2 snowflakes
RollDolph: Average score: 220, 200 XP earned and 5 snowflakes

Topsy Turnowtiz: Average Score: 235, 300 XP earned and 2 snowflakes
Roller Bear: Average Score: 245500 XP earned and 4 snowflakes
Ruby Threes: Average Score: 2555K XP earned and 40 snowflakes
Fournament: Average Score: 270, 750 XP earned and 6 snowflakes

Twootsy Sweets: Average Score: 285, 2K XP earned and 5 snowflakes
Foursty The Snowman: Average Score: 304, 2.5K XP earned and 10 snowflakes
Nawty R. Dice: Average Score: 315, 3K XP earned and 15 snowflakes
Mrs. Kringroll: Average Score: 325, 4K XP earned and 20 snowflakes
Kris Kringroll: Average Score: 340, 5K XP earned and 40 snowflakes

I just beat him again.  This time, I only got the 5,000 XP and the snowflakes and it sent me back all the way to Chancer (the beginning) to start again. How far are you on the ladder?  Good luck!

Dice Duels in Yahtzee with Buddies

First you got the duel dice and given a hint at what was coming.  Now, that the dice duels have been released, have you been playing?

Updated: 3/16/2016.  New Season of Dice Duels.

Here's the scoop:

Each duel costs 1 diamond to play, you initially get 3 to start you off.  Of course, you can buy diamonds and you can earn 1 diamond for winning a duel.  1/23/16 - Looks like it costs 3 to start a new game and you win 4 diamonds in silver for the new version in silver and 7 diamonds for gold.

You get one free duel per day.  Take advantage of this fact!

The duel has a 12 hour move limit per person.  You will forfeit if you don't make your move within that time.

100 XP is earned per person.  Some people are telling me that they aren't getting their XP.  Scopely probably knows about it and is working on fixing those issues.

You'll notice that each duel game has a special symbol at the top center so that you can distinguish that is not just a regular game.

I've played 7 matches and the stats are tracked so you can see where you are.  The leader boards show that some have a lot of wins and have focused mainly on the dice duels.

The new vanity frames are tied to these duels. Do you participate in the duels?

Lately, I haven't had that much time to play the duels and am concentrating on the tournaments; a new post on those are coming up soon!

How to Earn the Snowflake Dice in Yahtzee with Buddies

I've been getting a lot of questions on how to get the snowflake dice in yahtzee with buddies. Tapping on the dice icon it says, "Qualify and complete the Holiday Celebration Event."

In order to do this, just play yahtzee and complete 80 games and you'll qualify for the dice. But there is another catch! This is called a community event so the community must accomplish specific number of snowflakes earned.

You can earn snowflakes by playing a particular number of games, playing in the tournaments, and prizes.  You must claim them in the AWARDS area.

As you can see, the event has 27 more days to go, I've qualified and played over 200 games.  At the end of the Holiday Celebration, you get XP and the custom dice appear in your dice collection.

Once they are available, the "Locked" icon will change to "Activate" and you can start using it.  I wish that the dice would be available before the Christmas Season was over.

What I Hate About Playing Yahtzee With Buddies

Here are some of the things that I dislike while playing Yahtzee With Buddies or Dice with Buddies.  This is not against the game itself but things that are repeating.  These are my complaints.  What are yours?

1) The Yahtzee after you score a zero in the yahtzee box.
I make a decision to place a zero because I feel that it is less likely that I will get a yahtzee then bam, I get a yahtzee.

2) Accidently starting multiple games with someone because we both clicked rematch.
It seems to always happen if you rematch right after the game is over.  Both players then rematch resulting in multiple games.

3) The game not registering my tap on a dice and losing the dice I wanted to keep.
This happens to me a lot.  I am in a rush to play this roll and going for the yahtzee and I lose that 6 I needed.

4) Going for something that I don't need.
I think to myself..."Oh three sixes!" Then I realize that I needed a small straight.

5) Opponents that take too long to move.
Let's finish this game today.  Sometimes, they play a move and wait 6 days to make the next.  They'll move two more rolls and then wait another seven days.  Geez!!!

6) Opponents that send me messages to hurry up.
Okay, I get it. I try to finish the whole game but I do have to eat and otherwise get on with my life besides Yahtzee with Buddies.

7) Opponents that chat way to much.
Besides the usual "Hi," "Good luck," "My name is...".  Eventually we might become yahtzee friends. This is not yahtzee dating!

8) Using three rolls to get that one number and fail with 15 dice!
Really! out of all those dice, I couldn't get that one five that I needed to get the upper bonus, four of a kind, yahtzee, etc...Frustrating.

9) Getting the highest score in my life of 501 in a tournament or game and losing to someone that scored 13 yahtzees in a row in a tournament (880 points)
Really? What the $%@! I used a gazillion bonus rolls that I collected and still win nothing in the tournament.  I have googled ... "How to cheat in Yahtzee with Buddies?"  or even, "Yahtzee hacks." Sigh.

10) Not getting anything other than nothing or one bonus roll with a scratcher.  Sometimes I have hold off on scratching until I get about 10 of them and maybe win one or two bonus rolls.
What are the odds set to for the 200 bonus rolls?  I want to know so at least I can expect nothing.

11) People who think they are too good to play you.
Yes, you're a level 18 150. Good, you play a lot.  Are you afraid to lose to a much lower level?

12) The matching system selecting someone for you that doesn't play and it takes eight days for them to finally "time out," and say, "They Declined."
Match with someone that plays or has a history of playing.

13) Having to go Awards, then scratchers to actually rub off the scratchers.
Why not have the button after the game?  "You have 6 earned scratchers. Want to scratch now?"

14) Losing to the Dice Master in the ladder (Showdown)
How do they get the dice master characters to get apx. the score they are rated?

15) Accidently scoring a zero because you placed your 4 of a kind in full house, any other wrong box.
I know it is careless but still frustrating.

16) That it is so addicting!
Yup.  I'm addicted to Yahtzee with Buddies.  Are you?

17) Getting a Yahtzee of all sixes for your 50 point yahtzee.
Why is this a bummer? Well, it feels like it is being wasted and I'm not going to get another five or six yahtzee roll! Several others have mentioned they would prefer a lower dice (1-4) for their first yathzee of the game and then get a five or six yahtzee. In essence it is similar to finally getting a winning lotto ticket and it wins $4.00 dollars.

18) Timing out on a dice duel and losing.
The dice duels force you to make a move in 12 hours or lose.  Just like that, you lose.

19) Accidentally clicking on the FRESH START or TRIPLE REPLAY button.
This usually happens when you are trying to get a particular roll and run out of turns, then poof, you tapped once too many times.

What are Vanity Frames in Yahtzee with Buddies?

Yahtzee with Buddies
Custom Frames

Scopely has added experience (XP) based custom frames in July 2016.

Vanity Frames
Yahtzee with Buddies just got updated with vanity frames.  As far as I can see them, they are awarded for obtaining 5, 10 and 15 custom dice.  Basically, if you are a custom dice collector.  The vanity frame goes around your user profile icon in the game.  There are several different types for achieving different challenges in the game.  Some as mentioned are for the custom dice, others for completing a showdown.  Only the custom dice achievements seem to be retroactively credited.

I'll post pictures of them and how to get them shortly.

On the top left is the Classic meaning everyone gets it. The official tag is Yahtzee with Buddies look.

The second is the Dice Collector (level 1-3).  Awarded for collecting 5, 10 and 15 custom dice.  Mine is currently on the "Collect 15 Custom Dice Set"

Next comes PVP2. AKA. People Player Level 2 for me.  Complete 250 games against other players.

The fourth is locked and I don't know what it is.  Let me know in the comments section, please.

The locked items on the section section:

Champion 1: Finish a Dice Duel season in 1st place.

Duel Master 1: Reach Master Rank in Dice Duels

Rollerby's Crown 1: Crown of Dice.  Defeat Lady Rollerby in Dice Master Showdown (each win adds a level to the frame)

Gilded 1: Golden Roller Level 1 (51/100).  Use 100 Bonus Rolls (tracked at a game end)

Flames 1: Rapid Fire Level 1 (4/20) Win any 20 FastPlay Tournaments.  You can play FastPlay Bronze, Silver or Gold.

Christmas 1: Holiday Dice Master.  Defeat Kris Kringroll in Dice Pole Showdown (each win adds a level to the frame)

The last two are locked and don't show.  Again, please let me know in the comments if you have them or know what they are.

Additional frames are earned for beating particular towers and dice duels!

How Do I Score Additional Yahtzees in Yahtzee With Buddies

Scoring More Than One Yahtzee in Yahtzees With Buddies

A Yahtzee scores 50 points the first time that you get one if you place it in the yahtzee box in the lower section.  If you have already scored a zero in that box then the 5 of a kind is no longer a yahtzee and scores the sum of the dice.  Example, getting 5 sixes would score 30 in the 6's (upper section), or 3 of a Kind, 4 of a Kind, or in the Chance box.

Technically, you can score 13 yahtzees.  But I've only seen four scored in any of the games that I have played with real people and only two with the dice monsters.

The max score you can get under perfect play is: 880 points possible inYahtzee with Buddies. 5 x 1, 5 x 2, 5 x 3, 5 x 4, 5 x 5, 5 x 6, 35 Bonus, 80, 80, 50, 50, 50, 50, 50.

The second yahtzee can be played in any of the other open boxes meaning a box that you have not placed a zero in. In the upper section, the second yahtzee scores +50 and also the sum of the face value of the dice.  So you might get from 55 (yahtzee of 1's) to all the way to the max of 80 (yahtzee of 6's).

There is an achievement where you don't want to score the yahtzee of all ones into the yahtzee box - Precision Fail achievement where you score the yahtzee in chance and score a zero in all the other boxes.

How to Play Yahtzee with Buddies

How do you play or score a game in Yahtzee with Buddies?

The main goal of Yahtzee with Buddies is to get more points than your opponent.  Your opponent can be another person, "dice monster," or player sharing the app with you (handing it back and forth)

There are two sections on the board based on the original game card in Yahtzee:

Upper Section
  • Ones
  • Twos
  • Threes
  • Fours
  • Fives
  • Sixes
Lower Section
  • 3 of a Kind
  • 4 of a Kind
  • Full House
  • Small Straight
  • Large Straight
  • Yahtzee
  • Chance

There are 13 turns.  A move by you and your opponent is considered one turn. During each turn you get 3 rolls of the dice.  You can choose to roll none or all your dice again to get what you are trying to achieve in a particular roll.  For each game, you get one FREE Bonus Roll.  You can use it at any point in your game after your three rolls.  If you have banked bonus rolls, you can use them after each of the 3 rolls have been used but then must play your dice in one of the 13 rows (boxes) or score a zero (0).

In the upper section, you can only score the value of the ones in the ones box, sum of the twos in the twos box, etc...

If you score 63 or more points in the upper section, you get a nice 35 point upper section bonus.  If you were to get a minimum of three of each dice in each of the 6 rows then you'll get the bonus.

Sometimes you might score a zero in a box like the ones.  That means you're down 3 points, you can make that up by scoring an extra 3 when completing your threes to make up for it.

In the lower section, scoring is similar:

3 of a Kind: Three matching dice of any value.  Sum up all the dice and enter the total in the 3 of a Kind box.  You can score from 5-30 points.

4 of a Kind: Four matching dice of any value.  Sum up all the dice and enter the total in the 4 of Kind box. You can score from 5-30 points.

Full House: Three dice of one value and two dice of a different dice. You score 25 points.

Small Straight: A series of dice four in succession.  Example 1, 2, 3, 4 or 2, 3, 4, 5. You score 30 points.

Large StraightA series of dice five in succession.  Example 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 or 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. You score 40 points.

Yahtzee: Getting five of a kind of anything.  Example: 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1.  You get 50 points for a yahztee.  If you have scored a zero in yahtzee already, you only score the sum of the dice in an open box. In the ones, twos, threes, fours, fives, sixes, 3 of a kind, or 4 of a kind.

Chance: The sum of all five of your dice.  It is usually used when you can't complete something else.  If you were going for your yahtzee and didn't make it, you could put the score in here if it is empty.

There are special achievement XP points for accomplishing certain scores and how you get points in the scoring.  Take a look at the Yahtzee with Buddies Achievments page for more information.
