How to Get all the Custom Dice.
As the method that is available to win the dice changes, I'll post the updated info in the individual link for the custom dice. 5/1/2017: A new way to get custom dice is to play the weekly challenge that is now out for both yahtzee with buddies/dice with buddies!
6/21/2017: Scopely has changed so many things since I wrote this but one thing that hasn't changed is that they are always coming out with new custom dice. Here is a link that shows images of the list as one, Yahtzee with Buddies & Dice with Buddies Custom Dice List.
You've started with the standard dice and see people with really cool dice and are wondering how to get them, huh? Here's how:

Everyone starts off with the standard dice. The top left on the first row. Tapping on the particular dice will tell you what you have to do to get that particular dice. The first one is easy - just load and play the game.
The dice that you have activated show on your opponent's screen also. The locked dice are in the lower box. Scopely has sometimes gives you a themed dice when you purchase bonus rolls.
There are ads that show that you can get a random dice with the purchase of $99 worth of dice. I don't know if you can get dice that you've already earned but that sure would be a bummer.
Sunshine Dice - Get Honorable Mention in a Tournament 50 times. I'm level 10 and haven't gotten even 1 yet. 2/10/2016 - I finally got my sunshine dice :)
Ice Cream Dice - Score 4 Yahtzees in One Game 5 times. I have one of these when I got lucky and scored 4 yahtzees and finished the game with 489. It helps to have some extra bonus rolls hanging around.
Beach Ball Dice - Defeat 25 different opponents in 24 hours. They don't have to be in the midnight to 11:59 p.m.. Just a rolling 24 hour period. Start a lot of games and play on.
Orange Dice - Play 30 days in a row. This one is easy; just play 30 days in a row. Really no skill since one doesn't have to win the games.
Skull and Bones Dice - Defeat 25 FB friends. Invite your friends to play and link to facebook to get credit. The in-app facebook connection is broken as of this date so it might be hard to start a game this way. But you can log onto the browser game to start it and continue on the app. I have to do this when a person gifts me a bonus roll.
Platinum Dice - Complete (+ claim) all 3 levels of Platinum Roller Achievments. I have 0.
Purple Dice - Claim Casino Red Dice and Blue Dice. (1 of 2). The blue dice are easy to get (win 5 games) but the red will require some effort. Once you earn and claim casino red dice, then the purple dice will be yours! The Precision Fail part of earning these is the hard part: Get a yahtzee of 1s and place it on chance, then score zero (0) on all other boxes.
Lady Bug Dice - Play 25 FB Friends. I have 19/25 at the moment. See comment onf Skull and Bones Dice.
Hearts Dice - Complete (+ claim) level II of all Precision Shooter achievements. These are hard because one has to score an exact total and it takes somebody to finish the game. There 21 different precision achievements.
Paw Prints Dice - Win 500 Games. A lot of time for this. Play long enough and you'll get it.
Pink Dice. Complete (+ claim) level II of all Upper Section achievements. I found this tough. Basically get yahtzee for the 1's, 2's, 3's, etc... 5 times each and the hardest for me was getting 4 of a kind for each of the upper section in one game! Have some bonus rolls. Remember, you have to do this 5 times (Level II) to get the achievement credit.
(Go for the upper section and don't be afraid of scoring zero in the lower section. Yes, you'll get a crappy lower score but get your achievement.)
Bronze Dice - Reach level 4 of the Biggest Winner 3 times in a row. 0/3 for me on this. Scopely has since changed this to winning 10 Bronze FastPlay games.
Casino Red Dice - Complete (+ claim) level II of all Trick Play achievements. I want this one and currently have 4 out of 9. I have since completed this but forgot to update (2/14/2016)
Gold Dice - Use 250 in-game Bonus Rolls in 24 Hours. I thought that I had to buy and use these rolls but found out that just playing a lot of games can achieve this. Just have to play like crazy on a weekend and see if scratchers help in getting extra rolls.
(I got the gold dice by starting a lot of games and using the FREE Bonus Roll that you get with each game right at the beginning of the game. Technically, the most you'd need is 250 games.)
Wood Dice - Get 50 Yahtzees in a single day. 50 Yahtzees!? Nice but only able to get 28 and that was tough. Play lots of games and go non-stop.
(I also got my wood dice in the same day for the gold dice. I started the game and went for Yahtzee on first move with that FREE Bonus Roll and I got it in a few hours.)
Spades Dice - Complete 250 games in 7 days (PvP or Tournament). This is another just play a lot of games challenge. Win or lose you get credit for the game. I currently use these.
Tiger Dice - Play 1000 Turns in a Day. Yikes, I got this one just by brute force. I don't want to use the word addicted. This is 73 games at least in one day.
Roman Numerals Dice - Complete 50 games in a day (PvP or Tournament). Another brute force kind of achievement. Play a lot of games. Your screen might get cluttered. I found some other buddies that played 3 and 4 games.
Ice Dice - Complete (+ claim) level II of all Three of a Kind achievement. I like these dice since they look cool.
Leopard Dice - Defeat 10 FB friends. Link your app to facebook and start playing!
Rainbow Dice - Complete (+ claim) level II of all Four of a Kind achievements. I used these and a lady asked if I was saying something by using these dice. I think they look nice but harder to read in actual use.
Silver Dice - Complete (+ claim) at least level II of Lower Section achievements. Like most achievements, check what is required and make a conscience effort to get them. The dice will come.
Blue Dice - Defeat 5 different opponents. This is one of the first that you will achieve. Pretty easy.
Halloween Cat (Green Kitty Face) - Win Fast Play Gold Tier 50 times.
Bats - Use 10 Bonus Rolls in a Daily Tournament match 50 times.
Halloween Dice - Spend 10 Bonus Rolls in a match 100 times.
Tally Dice - Enter and win fast play Gold 3 times.
Pinkie Pie Dice - Complete My Little Pony Showdown
Peanut - Complete 300 Fast Play Bronze by 11/30 @ 11:59 PT
Stars and Stripes - Complete 5 Fast Play Silver by 11/12 @ 11:59 PT. This will probably come back on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Veteran's day, and Presidents day.

Duel Dice - Don't know they just appeared tonight (11/24/2015). Sometimes they just give you some dice and give you a hint that something might be coming soon. Look at the little banner that popped up today. It does take a little getting used to the swords being the number one though.

Pink Diamond Dice - When you buy a bonus pack. Or enter a premium tournament on 1/26/2016
Black Diamond Dice - Obrainable from special events. Stay tuned for events annoucements! Place 1-10 in the premium tournament. Expired.
Corn Dice - Complete Thanksgiving Chowdown.
Snowman Dice - Score two yahtzees in one game 10 times by 1/31/2016.
Mouse King Dice - Beat The Sugar One Fairy 5 times in the The Nutcracker Showdown
Ocean Dice - Complete the Fuzzy Dice Showdown 5 times.
Pet Treat Dice - Complete the Fuzzy Dice Showdown. Started 1/4/2016
Fuzzy Dice - Place in the premium or win the daily free tournament
Royal Dice - Defeat 30 different level 6 or better player by 11:59 pm pacific time on 1/16/2016
Blue Diamond Dice - Enter the premium daily tournament. Everyone wins! This option has expired.
Pink Diamond Dice - Place 1-10 in the premium tournament or win the grand prize in the daily. This option has expired.
2016 Dice - Reach the Gold rank in the Golden New Years Dice Duels.

As you can probably tell, some dice you just can't win - you have to buy them. What do you think about that?

Scratchers after a game - You get a 6 scratcher ticket that can earn you up to 200 bonus rolls but I have never heard of anyone getting more than 1, 2, or 3. I got 10 the other day and was completely surprised.
Scopely has specials every now and then and gives you more rolls for the price. The red dice were offered up for buying $49.99 pack of bonus rolls and the LCD dice were up for grabs about a month ago.
